Join us at the D10 Fall Conference! Register inside! (October 17, 10 a.m.)

From the Desk of John Martin, District 10 Director

To all District 10 PTA leaders:

As schools consider re-opening, PTA will become more and more relevant. Children at home as well as in school will need support. Mental health issues for teens was already considered a crisis by experts in the field before the pandemic struck. Research indicates that anxiety, depression, and other issues requiring professional intervention have increased by 32% since we all went into that first lock-down back in March. The needs of children today are much different than they were about 6 months ago. So let’s talk about that!

For our District 10 Fall Conference, to be held on Saturday, October 17 at 10 a.m, our guest speaker will be Georgia AppleSeed: Advocating for Your Child During the Pandemic. This will be a dynamic presentation/workshop along with Q&A.

You must register in advance for this online conference:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Your PTA is required to attend all District and council events. If the PTA president cannot attend, appoint a member of your PTA/PTSA to attend.

After our typical PTA business, we will have a discussion on mask mandates. District 10’s Board approved a position on mandating masks in public. You can find that position statement here. We are urging every city in Fulton County, as well as the County Commission, to pass a mask mandate for public spaces. We may vote on this position at the conference to turn it into a resolution. Please email me any proposed amendments to the statement. We will discuss and vote on any amendments and then the resolution.

Other items for the agenda will follow. Please use the flier below along with the registration information above to promote the conference.

For ALL the children, thank you for all that you are trying to do right now. Difficult times, yes, but every bit helps.
