Totem and Membership
Totem for PTA Leaders
Totem is a membership management tool selected by Georgia PTA as its preferred electronic membership provider. When your local unit signs up through Totem, your members can pay online and the state/national dues is taken out automatically. You can then go into Totem to get your membership roster. If you are not set up with Totem, please reach out to office@georgiapta.org. Once you have received a login for Totem, use the Leaders Guide to Launching Online Membership for your Association
Follow these steps outlined in the guide above to complete the process:
- Login to the Totem Portal
- Invite/Activate leaders
- Add and Verify a Bank Account
- Customize Membership Signup
- Launch Online Membership
- Promote Online Membership
Entering Existing Members into Totem
Normally, members sign up through Totem. But during this rollout period, your local unit may have already signed up members through MemberHub or other platforms, or even through traditional cash/check transactions. Your local unit will need to be mindful when entering its membership into Totem if you have already paid state dues for your members. If Totem takes state dues as members are entered in, and you have already paid state dues, there will be a double payment to Georgia PTA. It is a hassle to get paid back (refunded) by GAPTA. If paid by check, your local unit should be sending its check, membership list, and the Dues Transmittal form to GAPTA (as this has always been the procedure before MemberHub). If you have paid state dues through MemberHub, then the office staff at GAPTA should account for memberships already paid up until September 30, 2023, since local units were told that they can continue to use MemberHub up until this date. If you encounter issues with the state accepting your dues payments through Memberhub prior to September 30, contact Director Willie Davis.
